I remember reading a reportage about a `village of gossip` in Bac Ninh.
If you say something careless, people will nod and look like you’re sincere. If you say it wisely, you’ll sound fake. If you say something sharp, you’ll sound sour. If you say it too confidently, you’ll say you’re arrogant. If you say it too safely, you’ll be a jerk.
Many times when I read the newspaper and see people frantically throwing stones at one or a few statements of a certain character, I am startled because I don’t know what the limits of truth and the right to speak are.
In showbiz, there are countless things about words, sometimes it elevates a person to stardom, sometimes it kills an entire career.
I idolize two women in showbiz – two masters of speaking, and use them as examples, but I’ve studied forever but still haven’t achieved that level of great skill.
