Fashion in the movie: Pirates of the Century: Class of Ladies (Ocean's 8) 1

The fashion world is stirred by the return of the “bandit of the century” brand.

The film’s guarantee of success is that it has a cast of famous A-list actresses: Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Awkwafina

Follows Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) – younger sister of `con boss` Danny Ocean (George Clooney) in the original series, who has just been released from prison because of her ex-boyfriend, and decides to gather a group of crazy girls with her best friend.

The proud achievements of costume designer Sarah Edward and her effective crew have brought a top-notch fashion `party` throughout the film.

“I have to carefully consider the roles, find and mix many sources of inspiration to make costumes for each person” – said Sarah Edward

Thanks to that, the total number of clothes used in Ocean’s 8, plus vintage items found at the second-hand market, is up to 300 items.

Indeed, the costume team spent a lot of effort shaping the entire cast, which are all elegant ladies.

In fact, the MET Gala takes at least a year to plan, but thanks to the help of Vogue magazine, PR agency KCD and 50 assistant stylists, Sarah Edwards only had to spend a short time preparing.

The MET Gala event – where the robbery took place was faithfully recreated with the participation of the powerful editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine – Anna Wintour.

Leader Debbie (Sandra Bullock)

For example, the `female version` of Danny Ocean, Debbie (Sandra Bullock) has a strong personality, luxurious charisma, and is polished in minimalist, monochrome designs of Stella McCartney or Alaia.

Street style commonly seen is a trench coat, trousers combined with boots to exude professionalism, suitable for a top position.

Sometimes combined with a white fur coat to create a highlight, wearing glasses by Barton Perreira Dalziel.

Or a trendy Cocoon coat, creating a modern and stylish overall look.

Gorgeous with an ocean-themed dress, details of seashells and starfish are meticulously burned with gold and silver thread like a work of art, designed by Italian fashion house Alberta Ferretti.

Nightclub owner Lou (Cate Blanchett)

In contrast to Debbie, Cate Blanchett’s owner of Lou nightclub in New York has a cold personality and a rather `masculine` beauty in a menswear style mixed with rock n roll, which is the coolest and most impressive in the movie.

Suits are the outfit chosen to express feminism, and the teal velvet suit is from Burberry.

Indispensable accessories in Lou’s outfit to highlight are patterned scarves, long necklaces, and watches.

Black is still the main favorite color and Saint Laurent’s long scarf looks like the `big sister` in the bandit of the century.

The most special of Lou’s outfits is still the luxurious emerald green jumpsuit, studded with emerald stones and 3D spiral details on a sequin fabric background of the Givenchy brand.

Star Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway)

The `victim` of the robbery is actress Daphne Kluger, played by the beautiful Anne Hathaway, with a classic and haughty charisma like the late actress Elizabeth Taylor.

Over the body-hugging dress is a jacket from New American Jackets, priced at nearly 4 million VND.

Stand out on the street in a unique green faux snakeskin coat and pointy high heels.

The centerpiece of the robbery was the Toussaint necklace, weighing 3 kg worth $150 million, crafted by Cartier – the exclusive jewelry sponsor, inspired by the diamond chain designed by Jacques Cartier for the Maharaja.

Matching Daphne’s MET Gala outfit was a classic pink dress, worn over an exquisitely tailored, 15-foot-long Valentino cape.

Hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna)

Different from her usual sexy appearance, singer Rihanna made an impression when she dressed baggyly like a female version of Bob Marley, with a rasta braided hairstyle, a wool coat, baggy army pants, sandals and a choker to wear.

The `dusty` style from the set includes Bob Marley t-shirt, torn baggy jeans, rolled up hems and low boots.

Camo patterns bring a mischievous, adorable look to Nine Ball.

Shaking off the dusty street style, the attractive girl wore an off-the-shoulder fishtail evening dress that accentuated her seductive curves in passionate red designed by Zac Posen.

Fashion designer Rose Weil (Helena Bonham Carter)

Actress Helena Bonham Carter’s defunct fashion designer Rose Weil is an eccentric character with a very Vivienne Westwood style, so her classic Victorian-era outfits are mixed casually with loose, uniquely embellished clothes.

It is easy to recognize the strange outfit design typical of the gothic style.

The O’Malley glasses from Oliver Peoples x The Row are Rose’s indispensable accessory, priced at more than 10 million VND.

The elegant evening dress was designed by Dolce&Gabbana with a 50s style. In particular, the roses on the dress were completely hand-painted to make it stand out.

Jewelry inspection expert Amita (Mindy Kaling)

The person capable of forging the Toussaint necklace is jewelry appraiser Amita, played by Indian-origin comedian Mindy Kaling.

The warm color of the elegant jacket cleverly covers Amita’s plump figure.

An unexpected coincidence was that Mindy was wearing a dress with a cape made from head to toe sparkling gold chains from nearly 150 bead factories in India from designer Naeem Khan whom she has admired for many years.

Former thief Tammy (Sarah Paulson)

Leader Debbie’s former `colleague` Tammy is played by Sarah Paulson.

Although they are just simple items, the oversized blazer and flared jeans are harmoniously combined into a feminine, equally dynamic style.

Choosing a noble `close-fitting` dark blue velvet evening dress from the Prada brand, complete with Cartier gemstone earrings from 1920, is quite suitable for the role of fashion assistant.

Constance the pickpocket (Awkwafina)

The youngest member of the Ocean gang, talented in pickpocketing, is Constance of Asian rapper and actress Awkwafina.

Hip hop dressing is Constance’s defining characteristic.

The MET Gala event was like a `transformation` that made her look beautiful in an elaborate jade embroidered dress by American designer Jonathan Simkhai, and her slightly curly hair swept to one side in a traditional Hollywood style.
