Because sometimes, I get stuck somewhere – Mit Dac blog 12

Unlike usual, I wrote these lines on a piece of paper left in my backpack, not on the computer.

Today is the second day I’ve been stuck here, on my way across the border from Panama to Colombia.

Some came first, some came later, but all of us tourists were stuck in the restaurant right at the wharf, sleeping in hammocks hung in the bamboo shack.

The tense `meeting` between the backpackers and the trip organizer lasted until after midnight.

On this tiny island there is only one village, of the Kuna people.

At night, it’s strange when in the middle of the vast black night, we see a few strings of flashing Christmas lights.

By this morning, some of the tourists had reached their wits’ end.

I was also tired because I had just recovered from my illness.

But there are not many days in our lives when we walk around the same place 6 times, count cats, look at pigs, play at the hospital, and get completely confused because we have to chat and laugh  at each other in a language we don’t know.

It’s not so bad, when I’m stuck somewhere for a while.

(When you read this, it means I finally have a boat to leave the island, and arrive safely in Colombia.)

One of the tiny islands of the Cartí island cluster.

Write more about your sea trip to Colombia

Finally there’s a boat to go.

But honestly, if I had to choose again, I would still choose to go by sea and even choose the days stuck on the island.
